Katya is a strategic communications professional with field and conflict zone experience.
Before joining Steer PR, she worked in Ukraine, supporting economic resilience and crisis-response efforts to advance U.S. strategic goals in the region. Her work sat at the intersection of development and national security, requiring close engagement with government counterparts, rapid analysis in a chaotic operating environment, and clear communications on complex geopolitical and security dynamics.
A former Fulbright Fellow to Bulgaria and a Critical Language Scholar to Russia, Katya has lived and worked in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, bringing a field-informed perspective to national security communications. She has focused research on defense technology, deterrence, and adversarial capabilities, with a professional interest in how communications, industrial capacity, and technological advantage contribute to U.S. and allied strategic success.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Katya holds a dual degree in Russian and Eastern European Studies and Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia and currently resides near Washington, D.C.
