BLUF: Air Force Modernization
On Tuesday, President Trump delivered his first address to the UN General Assembly of his second term, touting renewed American strength. He highlighted his record on peace and decisive action, specifically pointing to the success of Operation Midnight Hammer.
The administration has repeatedly showcased this operation through speeches, high-production videos, and other displays of B-2 bombers as symbols of American military dominance. But as adversaries develop advanced airframes of their own, emphasizing our strength must be backed by tangible modernization efforts to expand America’s advantage, and quickly.
Recent weeks have brought lots of momentum on this front. The next-generation B-21 stealth raider is already in testing, and this week Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin announced that production of the F-47 has begun, with test flights expected by 2028.
“We are ready to go fast. We have to go fast,” Gen. Allvin said, underscoring the urgency of modernization amid intensifying global competition. With the NDAA awaiting a Senate vote, these efforts will require not only developing the cutting-edge technology we pride ourselves on, but the will to ensure America continues to dominate the skies.
